What to Expect During Laser Liposuction

For additional information, check out our Ultimate Guide to Laser Lipo.

Laser liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure that utilizes laser technology to remove stubborn fat deposits from underneath the skin. By using a laser-assisted approach, the surgeon can effectively break up fibrotic tissue and separate fat cells, making it easier to suction them out. Unlike traditional liposuction techniques that remove body fat through mechanical or machine-powered methods, the laser lipo procedure works by heating the tissues and softening them, enhancing the fat-removal process. It is a less invasive option for fat removal and cosmetic surgery.

 How Does the Laser Work?

During the procedure, the surgeon will introduce a laser fiber and a large volume of water or tumescent solution underneath the skin. The laser is specifically designed to activate the water, heating it and breaking up fibrotic tissue. This process liquefies the fat cells, allowing for their efficient removal using a vacuum-like device. Additionally, this body contouring procedure can be used to tighten the skin by heating the water within the skin, stimulating collagen production that leads to skin tightening.

Laser Lipo Leads to Faster Results

One advantage of laser liposuction is that it typically results in a faster recovery compared to other liposuction techniques. Since the laser only activates the water, the procedure causes less trauma to the tissues, resulting in reduced bruising. In contrast, traditional liposuction methods rely on mechanical vibration to break up the tissues, which can lead to more significant bruising and a longer recovery period.

Will I Need to Go Under Anesthesia?

An important aspect of laser liposuction treatment is that it is usually performed with the patient awake. While this may seem surprising, it is actually a safety measure. When under general anesthesia, patients are essentially put on life support and may be unable to respond if any injury or complications occur during the surgery. However, with awake liposuction, the patient remains alert and responsive throughout the procedure. Nerves that supply the fat are numbed, ensuring a painless experience, while nerves that go to the muscles and organs are left intact, making it virtually impossible to cause life-threatening injuries. Patients are provided with sedation to help them relax and manage any anxiety during the procedure.

How Much Does This Procedure Cost?

The cost of laser liposuction can vary depending on several factors, including the treated area and the complexity of the procedure. Prices typically range from $3,500 for smaller areas to $12,000 for larger areas or comprehensive packages. It is worth noting that the cost of laser liposuction in the United States may be higher compared to some international locations. This is due to factors such as supply chain costs, medication costs, and the presence of a highly-skilled, board-certified surgeon. Cheaper options may be available elsewhere, but they often involve compromises in terms of the qualifications and expertise of the medical professionals involved.

Laser liposuction offers an innovative approach to removing unwanted fat deposits and sculpting the body. By utilizing laser technology, the procedure can effectively break up fibrotic tissue, separate fat cells, and tighten the skin. During the procedure, patients remain awake, ensuring their safety and allowing for real-time communication with the surgeon. While the cost of laser liposuction may vary, it is important to prioritize the qualifications and experience of the surgeon to ensure optimal long-lasting results and a safe procedure.

If you're interested in laser liposuction, we recommend setting up an initial consultation. The treatment plan for candidates may vary based on their personal goals.
