What is a “BBL” ?

In its most basic form, a Brazilian Butt Lift, or BBL is  the removal of fat from one part of the body to augment and enhance the buttocks.

BBL stands for Brazilian Butt Lift, which is a cosmetic procedure that involves transferring fat from one area of the body, usually the abdomen or thighs, to the buttocks to enhance their size and shape. Laser liposuction, on the other hand, is a type of liposuction that uses laser technology to liquefy fat cells, making them easier to remove.

When these two procedures are combined, the surgeon uses laser liposuction to remove fat from the donor site, and then purifies and prepares the fat for injection into the buttocks. The surgeon then carefully injects the purified fat into different areas of the buttocks to create the desired shape and contour. Safety is paramount in this procedure - Dr. Rivera will only inject into the subcutaneous plane - avoiding the deep blood vessels that can lead to life threatening complications.

Combining BBL with laser liposuction can offer several benefits, such as a faster recovery time, reduced swelling and bruising, and more precise fat removal and transfer. However, it is important to note that like any cosmetic procedure, there are risks involved, and it is important to consult with a qualified and experienced surgeon to determine if this procedure is right for you.

Because the blood supply to this new tissue is based on the surrounding fat, muscle, and skin capillaries care must be taken to avoid any pressure on the graft.

After BBL surgery patients must avoid sitting and compression to their new rears for as long as 4 weeks. During this time the transferred fat cells must grow a new blood supply to become permanently enmeshed with the surrounding tissues.

Those new baby fat cells can take as long as one year to fully reach their fat storing potential. Results of a BBL take time to fully appreciate and you will be rewarded for your patience.
